About Mr. Bushman
The Whose-Who About the Teacher at the Front of the Class.
Well, to start off... I am your teacher. What does that mean exactly? Well, that is completely up to you. I can be a mentor, your favorite person to see each day, or your worst nightmare. My motto is, "You get out of life, what you put into it." The same can be said for my classes. I will always be there to help you succeed but you have to have that desire yourself.

I tend to live my life with the understanding that I have the ability to choose. Everything that we do in life is a choice. The mind is powerful and can overcome a lot of the roadblocks that we put in front of it. I try to create an environment that is comfortable for everyone. I tend to joke around with my students and that sometimes can come across the wrong way. If something I say rubs you the wrong way please let me know. I am here to help you enjoy and master English.

THE MISSION
"What is a growth mindset?"
A growth mindset, In a nutshell, is never giving up. I often times hear, "I can't do English," or "I can't do this assignment." This is a road block that we put up for ourselves. Throughout the course of this year I want you to be able to say, "I can't do it... yet." This may seem to be a small difference but in reality the "yet" is huge. It shows a complete change of perspective.

When you change your mindset to a growth mindset, nothing is beyond your reach. By knowing that you can achieve anything through your own effort, you unlock your true ability. I promise you... as you develop this mindset throughout the course... you will see a difference in all of your courses, and in your every day life. It really works.

The Class

This class is designed to help you find the joy in English. Language is everywhere around you and is often one of the first things that people notice about you. If you say that English is not needed then you are missing the point. Language is what defines you, leads you, and precedes you.

This class is designed with a growth mindset at the core. Throughout the course of the year you will be challenged to master concepts, not get grades. I have organized the grading scale with this in mind. You should care more about learning that just passing the class.

This being said... I will make every effort to make the class enjoyable for you. If you have suggestions for how you like to learn, or fun things that other teachers have done in their classes, please bring them up. You have just as much say in the class as I do and I would love your input.
